“From the Torneiras Roriz factory in Braga, more than a million faucets are manufactured annually for the most diverse markets, distinguishing their products for their quality profile, innovation, and exemplary performance. Spot got to know the history of what is now one of the largest faucet industries in the country, through the voice of Rui Roriz, CEO of the company.

The History

There are looks that see beyond its time. Torneiras Roriz S.A. was born in 1977, by the hand of José Roriz, in a small garage, after years of experience in the former Metalurgia Sarotos, dedicated to the automotive sector. After more than 40 years, Torneiras Roriz SA is currently in the industrial park of Adaúfe, and has a production capacity of more than 1,000,000 taps per year.
This path of over 40 years in the market has always been marked by care in manufacturing, engineering solutions, and attention to the needs and expectations of the customer.

Ecoefficiency

Today, Roriz’s core products are the Kora, Mia, and Joriz Series, the latter in honor of José Roriz. Among the thousands of references and collections, some of them with the collaboration of renowned national architects. All taps currently produced by Roriz can incorporate customized solutions tailored to the client and oriented to minimize water and energy consumption.

“Part of our environmental strategy is based on the circular economy. We work mostly with brass, an infinitely renewable raw material,” says Rui Roriz.

In another aspect, the minimization of the ecological footprint and sustainability are concerns of the organization, having invested in a Production Unit for Self Consumption (UPAC) with a production capacity of 400KW/h. This investment will significantly reduce CO2 emissions, consumption of natural resources, and production costs related to energy.

Integral production

Innovation, robotization, and Industry 4.0. have been a reality at Torneiras Roriz for several years. With about 85 active employees, Torneiras Roriz presents competitive advantages based on the design and quality of its products, as well as in the control of the entire production process, from raw materials to delivery to the customer.

This capacity of integral manufacturing allows satisfying any commercial, aesthetic, strategic, and legal need, tailored to each partner and market. Thus, “from the design of the pieces to the finishes and packaging, everything can be customized. Customization is, and always has been, one of our greatest differentiation factors”, assures Rui Roriz.

Roriz Faucets in the world

Torneiras Roriz S.A. is essentially an exporting company, with more than 50% of its production dedicated to the foreign market. It is a reference brand among architects, designers, distributors, and final consumers. The ISO 9001 certification and several series certified by the NF/ACS standard, attest to its quality in a transversal way and allow to continue to internationalize the brand and reach new markets.

New bets

Current concerns are focused on innovation, environmental and occupational safety issues. “Right now we are investing in a new galvanic line to allow us to adapt our process to the new demands regarding the use of chromium III. An investment of more than 1 million euros, which reflects our continued commitment to innovation,” says the responsible. These bets allow Torneiras Roriz to be at the forefront, producing mostly using clean energy and complying with the REACH Regulation guidelines, and will soon present products with Chromium III to the market.”

On November 30th, Torneiras Roriz SA received the visit of the Minister of Economy, Dr. Manuel Caldeira Cabral, who considered the company “a good example of how exports are growing, and how exporting companies are creating employment and helping the growth of the Portuguese economy “.
José Maria Roriz, the company’s administrator, accompanied the Minister during his visit to the production facilities, where Manuel Caldeira Cabral had the opportunity to learn about the latest innovations in terms of faucet design and water saving mechanisms. At the forefront of research in responding to global concerns such as water scarcity, Torneiras Roriz launched a “smart faucet” that saves water and energy. This innovative system ensures savings of at least 50% when compared to traditional mechanisms.
Manuel Caldeira Cabral congratulated Mr. José Roriz for the excellent performance of the company, which this year will reach a turnover of 11 million euros, with a growth of 23% over the previous year, and which exports around 70% of its production.
With a total of 70 employees, Torneiras Roriz SA has been growing steadily throughout its 40 years of existence, and plans to expand its facilities during 2018, in an investment of 1 million euros, that will allow the creation of ten more jobs and to leverage Roriz’s business in foreign markets, where the company bets strongly on its own brand, already recognized for the quality of Roriz products.

The Big 5 fair in Dubai has been the scene of the most important and prestigious meeting of construction professionals in the Middle East, generating around 80 thousand attendances and 2500 exhibitors. The importance of this event is enormous, and following the growth and internationalization strategy of the company Torneiras Roriz SA, our presence was, for the 5th time, a success in this geographic area, in which we continue to affirm ourselves as a brand of success.
Our space has again aroused great interest among Architects, Engineers, designers, builders and distributors.
This important event was also the opportunity to launch the new JOY series, which stands out for its design and competitive price, and was widely appreciated by those who visited us.
It is also worth mentioning the presentation of the various types of finishes on the exposed faucets, such as the Soft Touch in black and white colors, as well as Gold and Rose Gold, that meet the latest trends in the world of Interior Design.

A Expocamacol é anualmente um dos eventos mais aguardados por toda a fileira da construção da Colombia e dos seus países vizinhos. A importância deste certame na América do Sul é enorme e no seguimento da estratégia de crescimento e internacionalização da empresa Torneiras Roriz S.A., a nossa presença pela primeira vez em 2016 foi sempre uma prioridade.
A nossa representação nesta importante feira foi preparada e organizada com toda a atenção e detalhe, com a responsabilidade acrescida de o pais convidado nesta edição de 2016 ser Portugal.
O espaço da Torneiras Roriz S.A., foi alvo de milhares de visitas, gerando muito interesse nos visitantes, desde arquitectos, engenheiros, designers de interiores, construtores, bem como de distribuidores.
Foi com satisfação e orgulho que recebemos a visita do Exmo. Sr. Dr. Manuel Caldeira Cabral, Ministro de Economia de Portugal, que visitou o nosso stand e esteve à conversa com o nosso director geral, Dr. Rui Roriz.
Como resultado imediato desta participação na Expocamacol, a Torneiras Roriz S.A., irá inaugurar até final de 2016, um showroom da marca na cidade de Medellin.

A feira CEVISAMA 2016 decorreu em Valencia, Espanha. Neste importante evento lançamos comercialmente as series Kora e Mia, series que foram muito bem recebidas pelos profissionais, sendo elogiadas por arquitectos e distribuidores, destacando-se da concorrência pelo design original e um preço muito competitivo.
A série Pombal foi também alvo de muita atenção por parte dos visitantes da feira. A paleta de cores disponíveis torna esta série numa das mais versáteis da nossa marca.
Neste evento foram também apresentados os novos acabamentos, PVD e Soft Touch Mate. O acabamento PVD destaca-se pela utilização de partículas de titânio para um acabamento ouro com qualidade e durabilidade superiores, enquanto que o acabamento Soft Touch Mate, destaca-se por uma sensação táctil completamente original na utilização de torneiras no dia a dia.
